How Much Does Lawn Care Cost in Central PA? A Pricing Guide
One of the questions we get most often is: "What's a fair price?" Here's an honest look at what lawn care actually costs in the Harrisburg and Dauphin County market in 2026.
Weekly mowing
- Typical suburban lot (¼ acre): $40–$65 per visit
- Larger lot (½ acre): $65–$95
- Acre-plus properties: $95–$180+
Price depends on obstacles (fences, trees, beds), slope, and whether the crew has to bag or can side-discharge.
Mulching
Most companies quote by the cubic yard installed. In Central PA:
- $85–$120 per yard installed for standard hardwood.
- Dyed mulches (black, brown, red) run a bit more.
- A typical residential job is 3–8 yards.
Fertilization programs
A standard 4–6 step annual program for a ¼-acre lawn runs $350–$650 per year. Individual applications are typically $60–$110 each.
Spring or fall cleanup
- Small yard: $150–$275
- Average yard with mature trees: $275–$500
- Heavy leaf load or acre+: $500–$1,000+
Red flags to watch for
- Wildly low bids (usually skip insurance, or vanish mid-season)
- No written estimate
- Pressure to sign an annual contract on the first visit
- Cash only, no invoicing
