Common questions
How often should hedges be trimmed?+
Fast growers like privet and arborvitae want two to three trims a season. Slower boxwood and yew are fine with one or two.
How much does hedge trimming cost?+
Typically $6–$12 per linear foot depending on height and access, with a small job minimum.
Can you trim tall hedges?+
Yes — we trim up to roughly 12 feet from ladders and platforms. Taller than that we'll refer you to a tree service.
Why is my hedge bare at the bottom?+
Almost always because the sides were sheared straight or wider at the top, shading out the base. Tapering the sides fixes it over a season or two.
When should I not trim my hedge?+
Avoid late fall. New growth pushed by a late trim won't harden off before frost and burns over winter.
Do you check for nesting birds?+
Yes. If we find an active nest during spring, we skip that section and come back after fledging.
