Common questions
How much mulch do I need?+
A 2–3 inch layer is ideal. One cubic yard covers roughly 100–160 square feet at that depth; we measure your beds during the free estimate.
How much does mulch installation cost?+
Installed mulch in the Harrisburg area typically runs $85–$130 per cubic yard including prep, delivery, and labor.
What type of mulch is best?+
Double-shredded hardwood holds a slope best and breaks down into good soil. Dyed mulches hold color longer. Cedar resists insects and smells great.
Should old mulch be removed first?+
Only when it's matted, moldy, or already 4+ inches deep. Otherwise topping off is healthier for the beds and cheaper for you.
When is the best time to mulch in Pennsylvania?+
Late April through early June gives full-season benefit, though we install right through fall.
Can you do rock instead of mulch?+
Yes — see our landscape rock installation service for decorative stone and river rock beds.
